Today we'll be discussing how you can use AI to create videos for both content marketing and promotions.
In particular, how this cutting-edge technology is making it easier and more affordable for startup/bootstrap entrepreneurs to produce video content.
Let’s dive in.

Wish you could create videos for your biz without breaking the bank?
Well, thanks to developments in the AI space, you can.
I first went deep into the topic in July of last year as part of a project related to how to write non-fiction using AI.
Back then, programs like ChatGPT and Claude were good at developing outlines and first drafts. But almost nothing they came up with was usable in a professional business context.
Today, however, the output of these AI has progressed dramatically.
Especially if you understand how to guide them through multiple iterations, allowing you to increase the quality of the AI’s initial response.
So in today's issue, we'll cover three ways you can use AI to save on costs while producing videos faster.
If you have experience in the industry, the examples below may not seem particularly new or revolutionary.
What I want you to keep in mind, however, is that the output of these programs has increased dramatically over the past 12 months. So if you dabbled with these tools before, but we’re not particularly impressed by their abilities, consider giving them a second chance.
1 - Video Scripts
In my experience, there are two keys to creating good scripts with AI.
First, you want to use long prompts that contain detailed instructions.
From the purpose of the video to how the video should be structured from beginning to end, do not assume the AI can read your mind. Instead, be explicit with your commands.
Tell the AI how you want it to start, what the tone should, what topics to focus on in which sections, etc.
Second, I highly recommend you provide as much research material as possible in your prompt. Reason being, the more content you provide relative to what you want the script of the video to be about, the less the AI will have to rely on its internal training to develop your script.
And because of that, providing a couple thousand words of research / contextual material can get you a higher quality first draft right out of the gate.
2 - Royalty Free Music
In the past, hunting for good royalty-free music was a huge pain.
Mainly because any artist who's actually good at making music would put their material behind a paywall.
In addition, given music isn't keyword driven, you can't search for music the same way you can search for stock photos. Which in many cases, meant you had to listen to hundreds if not thousands of samples to find exactly what you're looking for.
With AI music generation, however, you can create your own royalty-free music using prompts. And you can do it in a matter of seconds.
Even better, with text to music generation, you can tell the AI exactly what you’re looking for. From an upbeat jingle to sinister background music, just type in what you're looking for and bam - you get a response.
3 - Create Your Own B-Roll
Even worse than royalty free music, gathering stock footage (also known as B-Roll) has been prohibitively expensive for bootstrap entrepreneurs.*
With a single clip 10-20 second clip costing anywhere from $20 to $250+.
With AI text to video generation, however, you can generate B-Roll clips for less than $1 each.
Admittedly, the quality of video you get back isn't going to be anywhere near the cinematic quality you'd get from a site like Adobe or Shutterstock. So make sure you have realistic expectations before diving in.
With that said, these programs are getting better every month that goes by.
So if the quality isn't up to your standards today, at the rate things are going you can expect major improvements over the coming six months.
In conclusion, while the hype surrounding artificial intelligence may have died off, AI itself is anything but dead.
More important, it's only getting better.
So if you’re looking for a more affordable - and more convenient - alternative to creating videos, you may want to give this AI stuff a chance.
💡 Takeaway: From royalty-free music to B-Roll, AI generators offer a lower cost and more convenient alternative relative to traditional video creation methods. And because of that, AI can be a great tool for bootstrap entrepreneurs who want to create videos, but are operating on a tight budget.
