Why You Must Build an Email List

No matter what kind of business you run...

Welcome to another issue of Passionate Income.

Today we’ll be discussing why you - and every business owner on the planet - should build an email list.

Even if you don't sell a product or service directly, by the end of today's issue you'll understand just how important it is to build your list.

Let’s dive in.

I recently filmed this exclusive training on How To Make $20k Month Without Showing Yourself or Selling Your Products (using Instagram)

After I released this training, it got over 10,000 views and I received 200+ personal messages.

Nothing held back, this is the framework I and 100+ of my clients used.

Does all your business come from social media?

Or maybe Google?

Or maybe you don’t even sell a product or service, like we do with our faceless pages here at Passionate Income.

If that’s you, you could be making a grave mistake.

And in all honesty, you’re not the only one.

While the technology side of email is easy, creating and sending the emails is the difficult part.

Because of that, there are 7-, 8-, and even 9-figure brands that simply do not send emails.

The only problem?

There are a couple.

First, let’s say you run a personal brand or a faceless page on a platform like Instagram or TikTok.

Let me ask you: if your page gets banned, how quickly would your income source dry up?

For me personally, I have close to 10 other pages in addition to Passionate Income.

Not to mention, I’m diversified into other income sources like courses and coaching.

But in the early days, when PI was my only source of income, a ban would have been devastating.

Now you might be wondering, how can having an email list help you recover from a social media ban?

While I hope the answer is obvious, having a list would allow you to re-launch a page to your most engaged fans and followers.

That means not only could you rebuild a new page from scratch much faster, but your engagement would also be sky-high since all of your new followers would be people who already know your brand and engage with your content.

If you’ve ever started a page from scratch, you know just how difficult those first couple of weeks and months can be.

Because of that, having an email list can quite literally save your business if you depend on social media to generate income.

Second, an email list is an asset.

Hypothetically, if you decide to sell your business one day in the future, the buyer will want to see as many revenue-generating assets as possible.

Further, buyers are well aware of the dangers of businesses that can be destroyed by one simple algorithm change.

As we saw with Twitter/X in 2023, a page can have its reach slashed by anywhere from 50 to 90% overnight.

That’s a fact buyers are well aware of.

Having an email list, however, is an insurance policy against social media algorithm crackdowns.*

*Given that the buyer would be able to rebuild the page’s following, similar to how we outlined above.

Third, studies have shown that email is the number one platform for selling products and services—to the point that consumers actually prefer businesses contact them via email.

Sure, if you’re running a faceless page and monetize entirely through shoutouts and promotions, then you may not have anything to sell right now.

But just because you don’t have something today doesn’t mean you won’t have something in the future.

In fact, inside my courses and coaching programs, I discuss how launching your own products and services is the best way to earn top dollar from faceless pages.

That means the earlier you start your email list, the larger and more profitable it will be when and if you decide to launch your own offer in the future.

Even better, you only need to send two emails per month.

While some marketers send daily or weekly emails, two emails per month are enough to keep your brand top of mind without putting too much of a burden on you.

In conclusion, email is both an insurance plan and a revenue generator.

Because of that, almost every business on the planet should build an email list. Period.

💡 Takeaway: From social media accounts being banned to consumers wishing you would contact them there, email is the safest, most effective business communications channel on the planet. And there are very few - if any - businesses that would not benefit from having an email list.
