Welcome to another issue of Passionate Income.

Today we’ll be discussing how to build a faceless Instagram page.

This is a follow-up to our last issue, where we discussed why we believe faceless Instagram pages are such a big opportunity in 2024. If you missed that one, we suggest you check it out before reading today’s content.

Let’s dive in.

If you have a little bit of time left, how about start writing your own bucket list

As a quick preface, it’s impossible to explain the nuts and bolts of how to build an entire business in one short newsletter email.

Because of that, the below instructions should be looked at as a jumping-off point rather than a perfect, “you will never have to use your brain ever again” checklist.

Instead, use this as a high-level roadmap where you lean into your strengths for the tasks you’re skilled at, and use resources like YouTube to develop the skills you’re weak at.

With that out of the way, here are the six most important steps to building a faceless Instagram page business in 2024:

#1 - Choose a Profitable Niche

Forget cat vids and motivational quotes.

You need a well-defined audience with a voracious appetite for content around a topic you’re interested in. Think foodie havens, fitness fiends, travel bugs – the possibilities are endless!

But here's the kicker: your niche needs profit potential.

Do they buy physical products? Info products? Invest in B2B or professional services? If the answer is no, keep exploring niches until you find one where they do.

Just make sure it’s something you’re actually interested in. Because if it’s not, and you choose a niche purely because it has profit potential, creating content will feel like a never-ending slog.

(Which is the #1 reason most faceless IG page founders quit.)

#2 - Brainstorm Content Topics

Now, for the juicy stuff – churning out content that magnetizes your audience.

The downside of business models like IG pages and newsletters (like this one) is that you’re essentially a media company. Meaning, your entire business (the IG page) revolves around publishing content 365 days/year.

Because of that, having a content strategy is critical to your success.

In fact, even if you plan on covering breaking news (like what most AI pages do), you still need some kind of organizational structure to work from.

Further, understand your page has to stick out in some way.

The last thing anyone needs is another page recycling news headlines in the same boring, vanilla tone. So don’t just focus on information or news. Instead, understand it’s entertainment that drives virality.

And what drives virality? Emotions and how shareable something is.

#3 - Choose Your Tech Stack

A savvy entrepreneur knows the right tools can make all the difference.

Scheduling apps like Later or Planoly keep your posting consistent, while analytics tools like Sprout Social or Iconosquare reveal which content resonates (and which flops).

Further, design tools like Canva and Adobe Spark help you craft eye-catching visuals, while CapCut is by far the most popular video editing tool.

We’re not saying you “have to” use these tools. But at a minimum, you’re going to need help with static images and Reels, which means video editing.

And don't forget the power of hashtags. While there are tools that can help you with them, what matters most is doing research and using the right ones.

4 - Post Content Consistently

When it comes to building a media empire (faceless page, newsletter, blog, etc.), consistency is key. So build a rhythm your audience can rely on.

As someone who grew a 1M+ follower IG page, I teach my students to post 3-7 Reels per day. Every. Single. Day.

Further, engage with comments, reply to DMs, and foster a community around your content. Remember, it's a two-way street, so listen to your audience and tailor your content to their needs.

5 - Cut Losers, Double Down on Winners

As Jay Z once said: Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.

In all honesty, most of your content will flop. And that’s OK.

What matters is that you a) don’t give up, and b) find the handful of things that do work well and do more of them.

So dive into your analytics and see what's working, what's not, and what needs tweaking. Did that dog yoga video go viral? Double down on furry fitness! Flopped the vegan brownie recipe? Time to pivot!

Experiment, track, analyze, and adapt – this is the ‘secret sauce’ to growth.

6 - Start to Monetize

Ok, so this is what you came here for: The money part.

While you won’t be able to generate significant revenue until your page hits 50K to 100K followers, that doesn’t mean you can’t do small-scale stuff early.

In terms of options, “shoutouts” and affiliate promos are low-hanging fruit.

But the real treasure lies in either launching your own product/service, or driving inquiries for companies that spend big money on lead gen.

I bring this up because you’ll want to think backward before you get started.

While you might be excited about the idea of running a page related to ___ topic, if ___ topic doesn’t lend itself to information products, physical products or high-ticket lead gen, odds are it’s a bad niche.

More important, remember: As a media company, trust in your brand is everything.

While some monetization methods may bring you profit in the short term, they can damage your brand in the long term. Which, in turn, can make it impossible to generate revenue from your page.

So no matter what you do, always prioritize trust over profit. Because the more people trust your page/brand, the more profit you can make!

💡 Takeaway: From freelancing to eCom, success doesn't happen overnight. And the same can be said for faceless IG pages. But with dedication, strategy, and a dash of creativity, you can turn your passion into a thriving business.

I'll leave you with this quote…

"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.”
