Welcome to another issue of Passionate Income.

Today, we’ll be covering some of the hottest side hustle ideas for 2024.

With trends constantly shifting, and an affordability crisis that’s left most people struggling to pay the bills, more people than ever and working to generate some extra cash on the side. And with these unique strategies, you can too.

Let’s dive in.

Did you know 39% of working Americans - and a full 50% of American millennials - have a side hustle?

That’s 80 million people in the US alone.

On the one hand, this means competition for most side projects is higher than ever. On the other, by looking at trends - and analyzing your personal preferences - you can squeeze max profit out of your free time.

Here’s how.

#1 - Dog Party Planner 🐶

Ok, I know this sounds totally insane. And I wouldn’t have believed it myself unless I saw it with my own eyes. But there’s a girl who does party planning for people’s dogs and she’s absolutely crushing it.

In fact, there was so much demand for her service she launched a coaching program so she could show other people how to do it. Why is this idea so hot?

Think about it: The average dog owner in the US spends $4,512 on their dog per year. And in the past decade, spending on pets has more than doubled.

Even better, absolutely nobody is talking this yet. So if you strike gold planning puppy parties, remember who gave you the idea!

#2 - AI Integration Consultant 🤖

If you have no interest in AI whatsoever - or think the robots are trying to take over Skynet style and wipe out humanity - feel free to skip this one.

But the fact is, studies show small business owners are a) already investing into AI, and b) hungry to invest even more into AI. Meaning, if you can show them how to become more effective and/or efficient in their day-to-day operations, they’ll pay you. So what should you sell?

Depends on what you know. If you understand data analysis, sell them a data analytics solution. If you understand graphic design, offer to create their Instagram content and website/blog graphics.

In short, lean into your strengths.

And if you don’t have any AI strengths yet, but want to learn, the good news is you can learn through YouTube and test most of these tools for free (or a maximum of $20 per month via Poe.com).

#3 - TikTok Management 🎥

While younger generations have been using TikTok for years now, it’s just recently “older” generations (e.g. millennials) have started using it. And that’s doubly true for Gen X’ers (and the handful of Boomers on there).

So how does this translate into a side hustle?

Well, if you’re savvy with video editing software (which AI is making easier than ever), you can sell a Social Media Management service designed to help non-TikTok savvy business owners promote themselves.

As an example, you could have them send you X number of vertical videos per month. Videos you would then edit into the type of content that performs well on TikTok.

Along the same lines, you could also use stock video or some of these new AI text-to-video generators to create the videos out of thin air.

But don’t waste your time trying to convince non-believers: What matters is selling this to people who already see the value in marketing their business using video.

#4 - Micro Wedding Consultant 💒

According to the trend identifier website Exploding Topics, interest in micro-wedding has 5x’d over the last few years. Why? A couple reasons.

First, ever since inflation started after the pandemic, we’ve seen increasing reports of economic strain and a (worsening) affordability crisis. Second, with nearly 50% of marriages ending in divorce, people are beginning to question whether it’s necessary to spend tens of thousands of dollar entertaining strangers.

So, while you’d be competing with traditional wedding consultants, micro wedding are much easier to manage relative to full blown weddings. Why?

Think about it: Fewer guests means a small venue with fewer moving pieces.

Meaning, instead of managing a 400 person guest list on a ranch half the size of Montana, you’ll be managing a dozen people for a low-key beach wedding (that moves to a low-key restaurant for the party afterward). And because of that, this is exponentially easier to manage during your down time.

💡 Takeaway: Many side hustles, like freelance writing and driving for Uber, have stood the test of time. But with trends shifting and new opportunities on the horizon, your goal is to enter low competition markets where it’s easy to sell your product or service.

I'll leave you with this quote…

"Good things come to those who hustle.”
